JE Dunn Construction Company Offices

This adaptive re-use and addition, located in downtown Kansas City, covers 30,000 gross square feet and is annexed to J.E. Dunn's headquarters, which BNIM completed in 1995. J.E. Dunn Construction Company purchased the building at the southeast corner of 9th and Charlotte in the fall of 1999 to address the demands of rapid growth that the company faced. The renovation and expansion of the former two-level, 8,400 square foot existing office building into to a three-level, 31,000 square foot building was completed with a fast-tracked design and construction process. The new facility, part of a TIF program, includes office space, bid rooms and general classrooms.

A rigorous programming and space planning process resulted in an efficient and economic solution, which provided the desired office space and amenities necessary for the short and long-term goals of J.E. Dunn. The new addition addressed the desire for a responsible image and efficient space by providing a design sensibility that respects the company’s corporate image.
