BNIM Announces Promotions

Kansas City, Mo. (January 10, 2017) – BNIM is pleased to announce the promotion of new Principals and Associates in its Kansas City and Des Moines offices.

These individuals join BNIM’s existing leadership in realizing BNIM’s collective capacity as design thinkers solving the local and global design challenges of our clients. As a design practice, we are focused on Building Positive, a notion that reflects our focus on strengthening our business, our communities through design and—our greatest asset—our people.

KANSAS CITY

Aaron Ross, ASLA — Principal

Aaron Ross, director of BNIM’s landscape architecture practice, is shaping the landscape studio into an innovative and agile practice: one that is re-defining the role of landscape architecture by bringing nature back to the built environment and blurring the lines between the design disciplines.

James Pfeiffer, AIA — Principal

James Pfeiffer is an award-winning designer and collaborator whose strengths are centered around design, culture, and people. James sets new standards in human purposed design. He has served as an adjunct professor at Kansas State University (KSU) and is a frequent guest design critic for the University of Kansas, KSU, and the Kansas City Design Center.

Kristin Atkinson — Principal

Kristin Atkinson serves as BNIM's Chief Financial Officer, a role in which she has steadily grown staff, increased employee incentives, and expanded BNIM’s reach by establishing new offices. In 2016, Kristin was recognized as a CFO of the Year honoree by the Kansas City Business Journal.

Greg Sheldon, FAIA — Principal

Greg’s experience on numerous complex projects, his contemplative design process, and his boundless passion for the built environment have contributed to his reputation as a highly proficient and respected architect. In 2006, Greg was recognized as Architect of the Year by the American Institute of Architects Kansas City chapter, and in 2013, he was elevated to the American Institute of Architects College of Fellows.

Joe Keal, AIA — Principal

Joe Keal is a leader and innovator in BNIM’s digital design practice. His approach is rooted in the creation of high-performance spaces that enliven human experiences. Joe is versed at leading complex educational and cultural arts projects. He has also served as an adjunct professor at KU.

Rachel Murray — Associate

Rachel Murray is an Associate and Executive Assistant at BNIM. Rachel’s knowledge of the design process and practice at BNIM informs her diverse role, as she works alongside firm leadership and oversees the day-to-day administrative needs of the firm.

Alyssa Parsons, RA — Associate

Alyssa Parsons has contributed to some of BNIM’s most notable and complex projects across the country, including the LEED Gold certified Pacific Center Campus Development in San Diego and Westport Commons. Alyssa is actively involved in several initiatives committed to Kansas City’s urban core.

Carly Pumphrey  — Associate

Carly Pumphrey has experience in a range of project types that exemplify her practice of interior architecture, including Westport Presbyterian Church and the Pacific Center Campus in San Diego. She is a mentor for BNIM’s interiors group, and she is recognized by clients as an exemplary representative of BNIM.

Brandon Wlosinski — Associate

Brandon Wlosinski serves as Manager of Virtual Design and Construction at BNIM. Brandon leverages both his formal architecture education and deep knowledge of technology to create deliverables that enhance the design process using 3D printing, data visualization, BIM, and virtual reality.

DES MOINES

Carey Nagle, AIA  — Principal

Carey Nagle is a holistic practitioner, with notable project experience that includes office buildings, higher education facilities, churches, and museums. Carey defines design excellence as a balance of design and building performance. In 2016, Carey received the AIA National Young Architect award.

Lana Zoet  — Associate

Lana Zoet is passionate about improving the lives of people and the condition of our planet through thoughtful design. Lana seeks to illuminate the unique vision and goals of every project, resulting in human-centered environments that foster performance and inspiration.
