BNIM Announces Promotions and New Hires

Stephen Hardy, AICP, LEED AP has become an Associate Principal at BNIM. Hardy is Director of Planning for BNIM and is currently leading the City of Fargo Comprehensive Plan for Fargo, ND and the Nashville Flood Recovery Plan for Nashville, TN. He was instrumental in the Greensburg Sustainable Comprehensive Plan, which charted the town’s recovery and after a catastrophic EF-5 tornado devastated the community in 2007.

Kara Bouillette, AIA, LEED AP has been named an Associate at BNIM. Bouillette has 10 years of experience and is currently leading the Oak Street Parking Structure at UMKC. She has served as Project Architect for various projects with Kansas City Power & Light (KCP&L) serves on BNIM’s internal education committee and leads BNIM’s Design Excellence Group.

Catherine Callaway, AIA, LEED AP has been named an Associate at BNIM. Callaway is a native Houstonian who directs BNIM’s Houston office. She is currently working on the Tarrant County College Energy Technology Center, which is being designed to achieve LEED Platinum and Net Zero Energy, and will be a showcase in progressive sustainable design for the region. Catherine is a Board member of the Rice Design Alliance, and is actively involved with the Gulf Coast Green Symposium, Architecture Center Houston and Buffalo Bayou Partnership.

Jennifer DeWitt, AIA, LEED AP has been named an Associate at BNIM. DeWitt is an architect with over six years of professional experience working on civic, commercial, higher education and multi-family residential projects. She is currently working on the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City, MO. Jennifer is actively involved in AIA Kansas City’s Emerging Professionals and is a member of the AIA 2010-2011 Pillars Leadership Class.

Tom Hilton, AIA has been named an Associate at BNIM. Hilton works in BNIM’s Des Moines, IA office and is currently directing the renovation and adaptive re-use of Stuit Hall, which is one of the homes for the Department of Psychology at the University of Iowa. He has 19 years of experience, with a focus on projects in the higher education market. He plays a critical in the operation of BNIM’s Des Moines, IA office.

Jonathan Ramsey, AIA, LEED AP has been named an Associate at BNIM. Ramsey, who works in BNIM’s Des Moines, IA office, has 12 years of experience and is directing Troxel Hall, a new 400-seat lecture hall at Iowa State University as the lead Project Architect/Project Manager. Jonathan has taught a comprehensive architecture studio at Iowa State for the past three years. He recently completed the Midwest Retreat, a residential project, which earned an AIA Iowa Honor Award.

Kate Hemker joined BNIM’s Des Moines office as an Architectural Graduate. She is a 2010 graduate of Iowa State University where she received a Bachelor of Architecture and graduated Magna Cum Laude. While in school she completed two summer internships at HLKB.

Jeff Shaffer joined BNIM in the Des Moines office as an Architectural Graduate. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Iowa State University. He brings 9 years worth of project management and design experience and has most recently worked for HLKB.
