BNIM projects are recognized for design excellence and community impact at 2025 AIA Kansas City Awards
BNIM is honored to have receive four award recognitions at this year’s 2025 AIA Kansas City Design Excellence Awards. Zhou B Art Center is the recipient of a Public Recognition Award; Reconciliation Services received both a Public Recognition Award and an Architecture Citation Award; and Dr. E.J. and Margaret O’Brien Hall at Marquette University received an Architecture Citation Award. This year, AIA KC introduced the Public Recognition Award, a new accolade designed to incorporate the community’s voice.

Zhou B Art Center in Kansas City, Missouri, is a vibrant arts center that establishes an anchor at the east end of Kansas City’s 18th Street Cultural Corridor, linking the Crossroads Arts District to the Historic Jazz District. The project involved the transformative renovation and stabilization of the former Crispus Attucks School, into the home for expansive art galleries, a restored auditorium, and over 40 studios for working artists.
The Reconciliation Services (RS) Renovation represents a reinvestment by RS in its programs, neighborhood, and history at 31st and Troost Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri. The transformative project supports RS in its work creating living-wage jobs, increasing social and mental health services, and increasing equitable access to programming that connects neighbors and strengthens community engagement.
Dr. E.J. and Margaret O’Brien Hall is the new home for business education and innovation at Marquette University connects students, faculty, and industry leaders to the Milwaukee region and beyond. Spaces are designed with flexibility in mind and emphasize transparency, clarity, connectivity, and student focused experiences.
