Bob Berkebile Announced as Chair of “Houston 2020 Visions” Jury

BNIM Principal Emeritus Bob Berkebile has been announced the Chair of the "Houston 2020 Vision" jury. In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, "Houston 2020 Visions" is seeking creative proposals of what resilience might look like for Houston. "How should the city ensure its long-term recovery post-Harvey, and how will it continue to grow and thrive?" the AIA Houston website asks. In 2017, the Houston metropolitan area’s population reached an estimated 6,892,427, adding approximately 259 new people per day and ranked second in the nation in terms of population growth. The goal of the program is to center design and sustainability at the heart of conversations about planning for a more resilient future. The call for visions is seeking responses in scaled categories that examine resiliency from the micro-individual to the macro-global. The resulting responses will be juried and curated into an exhibit that will be mounted at Architecture Center Houston in spring 2020.

Houston 2020 Visions is a yearlong invitational – open from August 25, 2018 to August 25, 2019. Interested parties and applicants can find more information online here.
