Rod Kruse Presents at 2018 Iowa Homeland Security Conference

Principal Rod Kruse, FAIA LEED AP, is presenting at this year’s Iowa Homeland Security Conference, “Ten Years After: Honoring the Past, Shaping the Future,” on Thursday, October 4. After reviewing Iowa’s largest and most critical recovery projects following the natural disaster events of 2008, the conference planning committee determined that BNIM (as well as OPN and Nuemann Monson) has been involved with nearly 70% of the major public infrastructure related recovery projects throughout the state. Many of these projects incorporate mitigation or have design features that promote energy efficiency and resilience.

Rod’s presentation will focus on BNIM’s work with the University of Iowa, including flood mitigation tactics and permanent recovery options for the Art Building West; and the design and construction of the new Visual Arts Building in collaboration with Steven Holl Architects, which replaced the School of Art and Art History functions that were housed in the 1930s Art Building.

The presentations will be facilitated by Rod Lehnertz, Senior Vice President of Finance and Operations at the University of Iowa.
