The open rolling character of the park's north area land provides a great opportunity for development of a community-scale park that will serve the surrounding neighborhood, as well as the larger Northland community. BNIM developed a trail system, parking lot, disc golf course, play area, native landscaping and four large raingardens on 128 acres within the existing park. To promote a feeling of safety and encourage use, the trail is located to be visible from Russell Road and other park facilities and includes pedestrian lighting. The site's deep loess soils required creative stormwater management and erosion control measures.
