Joyce Raybuck and Dana Sorensen to Give Opening Presentation at AIA Iowa Spring Conference 2021

BNIM’s Joyce Raybuck, AIA LEED AP and Dana Sorensen, AIA LEED GA will be kicking off the 2021 AIA Iowa Virtual Spring Conference with their presentation Institutionalizing Change: Decarbonization Road. In this presentation they will discuss BNIM’s Sustainability Action Plan and the methodology and focus on embodied carbon reduction through building re-use, carbon footprint analyses, and strategic goal setting. This presentation will explain how climate change is linked to adverse impacts on public health, safety and welfare of building occupants and communities and how the context of these are interlinking, why these matter for architects, and actionable steps to improve outcome in our built environment. They will also discuss the six categories that can be used to measure goals and track metrics, which include Energy, Water, Ecology, Wellness, Equity and Resources – and share case studies that focus on embodied carbon and building re-use.

This two day conference takes place April 28-29. To learn more and register for this virtual event, click here.
