KC Design Week: Relearning the Lost Art of Small-Scale Development

Hosted by KC Design Week and KC Incremental Development Alliance, Relearning the Lost Art of Small-Scale Development is a presentation that will bring together four design-focused small-scale developers working within historic areas of Kansas City. BNIM Associate Principal Sam De Jong, AIA, LEED AP, will present alongside Alex Hilton (Grandbridge Real Estate Capital), Diane Botwin (Botwin Commercial Development and Botwin Property Management), and Shomari Benton (real estate attorney, entrepreneur, and community activist). The presentation will feature the presenters’ experiences with small-scale development projects, design process, insights on historical context, integrating design into existing neighborhoods, and the importance of efficiency and design for developers.
