The design for the H&R Block and Bloch Family Foundations’ new home envisioned a light-filled space where all associates have access to daylight and views regardless of the workstation or office location. The new layout fosters collaboration and communication among associates, while providing private, quiet space for heads down work. It was a key goal for Henry & Marion Bloch to be represented throughout the space. The design focuses on and highlights several of Henry Bloch’s personal artifacts and art. Among them: Henry’s WWII bomber jacket, Henry’s desk, a maquette of the Bloch School statue featuring Henry and Marion, and several wall hung art pieces from Henry’s personal art collection. Finish levels, lighting and HVAC strategies create a relaxed, authentic environment free from pretense or opulence. Materials were selected for function as well as aesthetics, with special attention paid to creating a cohesive look focused on key features within the space.
