MCC Facilities Master Plan
Information
- Completion 2025
- Project Type Campus Planning
Metropolitan Community College (MCC) is embarking on a key component of its MCC Re-imagined 2022-2031 Strategic Plan to create a comprehensive understanding of the College’s physical assets and the relationships between them to help position MCC to make the best possible decisions for its future.
The depth and breadth of the effort included concurrent Planning, Facilities Assessment and Community Engagement activities, through which to generate input and analysis of the existing building, infrastructure and site conditions at MCC’s four campuses. Framework goals linked to the strategic plan create a living Master Plan that balances MCC’s aspirational vision for its future and clear actionable recommendations to advance high impact facility improvements over time. The success of the integrated planning and assessment effort will enable implementation of concepts and guiding principles in a manner consistent with the College’s mission, vision, and values.
Process
Our team worked collaboratively with MCC leaders to design an approach to the facility assessment and planning effort to  synthesize qualitative and quantitative observations and criteria to inform planning studies and recommendations, which are further enriched by input from numerous stakeholder and community engagement sessions where the thoughts, needs and ideas of students, faculty, staff and community partners is incorporated to guide the planning recommendations and studies.
BNIM’s services included leading the planning, assessment and engagement effort and continuing to serve the College in the Campus Planning Consulting role to support additional future planning studies to build upon the initial effort. To successfully engage college stakeholders, we leveraged on-campus and online engagement events, including workshops, interviews, digital, and in-person community student engagement exercises to gather broad and diverse input that helped to shape impactful planning recommendations that are responsive to the community’s needs and experiences.
