BNIM’s 2026 Summer Interns

BNIM’s 2026 Summer Interns

This summer, BNIM is grateful to have welcomed four exceptional interns into our Kansas City and Des Moines offices, each bringing their curiosity, enthusiasm, and fresh perspectives to our studio teams. Throughout their time with us, they became part of our collaborative office community, contributed meaningfully to a range of projects, and were immersed in the daily conversations and moments that shape our practice

Micah, Chloe, Zane, and Peace each reflect on the experiences, lessons, and memories from their summer internships below:

Micah Frank
Architecture Intern | University of Kansas

“It’s increasingly rare to find firms that practice what they preach, yet every day at BNIM I am amazed at the integrity and continuing conversations about incorporating sustainability, social justice, thoughtfulness, and accessibility into design. As I continue my urban design internship through the fall, there is no greater sentiment I have than a sense of pride for the work I am doing, for the people I work with, and most importantly for the unwavering commitment to Kansas City.”

Chloe Timmerman
Research Fellow | Iowa State University

“One thing that inspired me during my research fellowship was seeing a firm with this much history still be willing to push itself into new directions rather than stay stagnant. I try to hold myself to this same standard, so I enjoyed being surrounded by people who think similarly.”

Zane Ayers
Architecture Intern | University of Arkansas

“BNIM has given me a much fuller understanding of the holistic role of architecture and the many ways we can contribute to a better built world. I’ve been inspired by the rigor, restraint, and resilience of the people around me, and by the countless paths a career in architecture can take. Most importantly, I’ve felt trusted to contribute as a creative professional, which has made this first experience in practice both meaningful and exciting.”

Peace Lesniewski
Receptionist Intern | Truman State University

“One of the biggest things I will take away from BNIM is how kind everyone was. My coworkers were always ready to help, and it always felt that I was being supported in my tasks. BNIM was a great place to have a summer internship, and I am so thankful I got the opportunity to work for the company.”
