Stacking the Deal: Make Decarbonization Pencil
Developers and project teams are being asked to deliver lower-carbon, healthier buildings while keeping pro formas intact and schedules moving. The biggest barrier to success is rarely a single technology but the gap between design intent and a financeable scope.
This session is a candid, practical discussion of how real projects “stack the deal” so decarbonization becomes investable. Panelists will pull back the curtain on the mechanics that determine whether incentives and financing lead to success: early feasibility alignment, documentation timing, underwriting assumptions, value engineering pressure, and the hidden handoffs between developer, architect, and engineering teams that either protect or unravel performance scope.

Beyond Code-Switching: Selling Sustainability Across the Political Divide
Some of the most meaningful performance gains happen in rooms where the word “sustainability” cannot be spoken. If you have ever watched a client shut down at “LEED,” bristle at “decarbonization,” or equate “green” with political identity, you already know the problem is not technical, but a mis-alignment of narrative, trust, and perceived risk. Many teams respond by “code switching,” swapping vocabulary while keeping the same pitch, which can work but rarely holds up under scrutiny, value engineering, or political pressure.
This session goes beyond code switching by showing how to reframe the conversation so high-performance choices are received as pragmatic, aligned, and investable to conservative owners, developers, boards, and public agencies.
