Kevin Nordmeyer, AIA Receives AIA Iowa Medal of Honor

The Iowa Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) honored BNIM Principal Kevin Nordmeyer, AIA with the 2017 AIA Iowa Medal of Honor. Kevin was formally recognized during the awards ceremony at the annual AIA Iowa convention on Thursday, September 28.

Throughout his career, Kevin has been a pioneer in high performance, sustainable design - leading the movement for the State of Iowa. Over the last 25 years, he has lead design teams for many of Iowa’s first sustainable buildings, and he continues to set increasingly aspirational benchmarks for building performance in the state. Kevin used his role on state boards and commissions to bring the importance of architecture and sustainable design to the forefront, and he has devoted a considerable portion of his career to educate future generations of designers in and out of the studio.

The Medal of Honor is the highest honor that an individual can receive from the AIA Iowa chapter, in recognition of their distinguished service to the profession. Past recipients also include BNIM Principal Rod Kruse, FAIA.
