THE POWER OF ONE PERCENT
One way or another, we’re going to get you (all you existing buildings)! We know how important and easy it really is.
We’ve been helping clients to predict performance for new construction for years and then fine tuning those designs with a variety of modeling tools and experienced instincts until they sing. As our projects begin to deliver savings, we work with our clients to continue to measure and optimize the potential of the building throughout its operational life. Tracking what works and what doesn’t work is essential to our process. We must have this closed feedback loop to continue to fine tune our tools and evolve the instincts we have come to rely on.
It is only natural that more and more facility managers have been asking to take advantage of this experience to help them find operational savings for their existing facilities. We are delighted to help because we understand that one of the most significant and cost effective ways to enhance the quality of life in our communities is to stop the outward flow of wealth for energy, transportation, goods and services by making better use of our existing building stock and developing local synergies.
In fact, if every existing building improved its performance by one percent each year, it would be roughly equivalent in impact to every new building performing 60 percent better in that same year. We routinely find that achieving savings much higher than this is possible simply by measuring what has previously gone unmeasured. Imagine the choices that would be available in our community if together we could find simple ways to keep easily half of what we currently send away and use it to invest in the things we care about most.
We know the latent potential for changing the world that existing buildings represent, and we’re going to get it. Come play!
