Design

Sam Nordmeyer is an Architectural Designer at BNIM who joined our practice full time after graduating from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Environmental Studies. Sam’s work on the College of Design Greenhouse project, completed during his studies at Iowa State University, was recognized with an honorable mention at the 2023 AIA Iowa Impact Awards, which recognize architectural projects that directly benefit social, humanitarian, community, or environmental causes. Additionally during his studies in 2021, Sam’s work received an AIA COTE Top Ten for Students Award. This international competition recognizes ten exceptional studio projects nationwide that demonstrate designs moving towards carbon-neutral operation through creative and innovative integration of design strategies.

At BNIM, Sam had contributed to a range of higher education, cultural, and civic projects, including the Therkildsen Industrial Engineering Building and Black Engineering Building at Iowa State University; Lutheran Church of Hope West Des Moines and Ames locations; and the Des Moines International Airport New Terminal.
