MJ Johnson is an Associate in BNIM's Des Moines office. MJ seamlessly translates project design into documentation with an adept understanding of technical precision. She is a highly sought-after and invaluable team member, resource, and mentor within the firm. MJ's experience at BNIM includes a variety of significant projects, including the adaptive reuse of historic Charity Hospital in New Orleans, LA, Iowa State University's Ivy College of Business Gerdin Building Expansion, and repurposing of the historic Des Moines Union Depot into the Des Moines Heritage Center. She received a Bachelor of Architecture from Iowa State University where her studies focused on the areas of Historic Preservation, Humanitarian/Relief Design, and Furniture Design/Fabrication. MJ received a Merit, AIA Iowa Impact Award for her work completed in Design for Disaster Relief at Iowa State University.
